Don’t know about bad. We do get anesthetics, obviously, but by syringe directly into the mouth. It’s not pleasant, especially for kids. Though nowadays it’s gotten much better. The syringes when I was a kid had big long scary needle and injection itself took a couple seconds. Nowadays it’s a very small hook-shaped needle on an injector that basically just goes “click”, and it’s done.
I wished we had gas as a kid, I really did. But apparently the local anesthetics have a much lower risk of side effects than just gasing someone into oblivion…

There’s a line somewhere between “brave”, “stupid”, “Irresponsible”, and “suicidal” - and I think these lunatics crossed it.
If they had managed to crash their plane, how many genuinely brave rescue workers would have been put at risk, going out into that storm to look for them?

Hurricane hunters do this for each hurricane. This does not normally happen. This was an especially bad hurricane

“Pumped” might not be the right words to describe my enthusiasm for Artemis, but I wish them good luck. They’re going to need it. They’re sending up people in a spacecraft with only one prior flight, a flight that revealed problems with the heatshield that were addressed with trajectory adjustments without ever testing whether these adjustments actually solve the issue…

Was just reading about this delightfully-named mission to Mars that’s scheduled to launch soon, and I absolutely love how incredibly hard the “trailer” for it goes.

Someone falling down as they enter the stage to aplomb is the most human thing I’ve ever heard of. Endearingly so.
It’s creators should be proud, though to avoid this in future they need to say “break a leg” to the robots before they head on stage instead of “good luck”.
Also that Robot walks like every Irish person I’ve ever met outside of a pub on a rainy day.
The super low bitrate and horrible compression does make me question if this is even real these days, I’ve seen people use a butt load of artefacting from export codecs and very low VBR to hide that it’s an AI generated vid. Everything is suspect now 
Or did Elon absolutely gut the quality in which they store and stream video tweets? I’ve also seen this weird trend of people getting Sora to generate found footage of stuff that already exists in the wild (candid camera type stuff of mundane things like large person falling etc)
What makes matters more confusing is modern phone cameras do a lot of stitching and interpolation to give a wider FOV and you end up with a lot of weird warping as it tries to correct paralaxing. Which I’ve seen people point out as clear indications of something being AI generated, when it hasn’t (this form of real time image-stitching is somewhat a precursor to modern AI generation though in a way, I remember doing it MANUALLY in college for Photography Panoramas etc)
