Oddly I’d just started another play thyroid Journey the other night. I haven’t played it in years and missed it - I’d bought it on Steam knowing I’d want to play again at some point. What’s was nice was I still met other players.
So I’ll keep an eye on that one (and the others tbh).
Edit, it occurred to me about that quote at the end of the exodus trailer- octopuses don’t actually live very long. I wonder if that’s addressed in the game?
Has anyone here ever played Swarm (1998) ? I can’t get this game out of my head since the expedition started…
You move freely on a top-down view, up/down/left/right. You have to collect minerals from asteroids and shoot at alien ships of various shapes & sizes. There’s power-ups, bullet hell, the whole old-school shmup schtick (love that phrase).
This was my first shmup ever, my father had it on his PC around 2003 and 8 years-old me was HOOKED.
We would play it taking turns when the other died (often 
) or play Windows Pinball when too frustrated by the difficulty. I re-downloaded it not long ago, it was on internet archive 
The Swarm vaguely rings a bell, but it would have been a mate who owned it, or an ad, or similar.

Of course they found a collab, and it’s CDPR dangit. I couldn’t personally justify the phone, I shouldn’t be able to justify this, yet I did it anyway …
At least I can now prepare to work on a fun side project, a joystick to match this style, especially since I am not into the new TAC-2 sticks.

Has anyone here seen Nocturne? (not the 1999 horror game) If you like rhythm games you should check it out, it’s an indie story RPG with rhythm-based combat, made by one guy. There’s a demo for it on steam, it looks amazing and it’s really fun. (Full game releases September 22nd)

Did a bit of research on an old game that is still very addictive.
Ricochet Infinity.
Its a breakout clone, but done really well, the feel of it is spot on, and while the ball is “in flight” you can hold the right mouse button which sort of magnetically attracts the ball in a direction. Loads of different brick types, animations, power ups.
Research was because I found out it is now Abandonware. Reflexive Entertainment were the original devs. It used to be listed on Steam, and Big Fish Games sold it at one point. Amazon then bought the company and had the game on an Amazon page .. all of that is now gone many years ago.
One of the Developers used to hang out on Ricochet Discord, its been a few years since he last posted, encouraging the community with community made levels, at the time he last posted people were already sharing the original game files because it was unavailable for purchase.
I have seen it on a few Abandoned software sites, but the only one I would trust is here ..
Already checked the files with my own personal copies, and the download when re-uploaded to Virus-Total was clean.
That site when you click download will ask for donations, but you then have another download link which throttles you in slo-mo download.
Oh and extract it with 7zip, to a new folder.

A lot of them are really well done, and its just a case of dropping files in the “rounds” folder. Just make sure you get the ones with the Infinity sign behind them.
Anyway if you havent seen it before, its damned addictive 
PS 2 era for sure. I can’t remember which ones I played though. In those days, I rented a lot of games just to see what they were like. Sometimes I beat them and never bought them.

I hate how busy september is with game releases this year… I would have been happy to wait an extra month for Cosmos.
But why today Sean? Why?! Valheim 1.0 launches today with the final biome… I am obligated to play this game with friends who I’ve had a private server running for 5 years with… I’m not allowed play space games today, I’M NOT ALLOWED!!!

I often used to wait for the first patch or two before playing the big releases. Less needed with a bigger team I think.
