A Research of No Man's Sky (A.R.N.M.S) Speculative Biology Project

Hi everyone!

Thank you for your patienc.

I really hope this will worth it.

Nice notebook scans!

The table/list formatting is not always indented regularly, I assume you used Google Sites and it comes out like that? (Mentioning it because that makes it hard to read on small mobile screens. I would have expected such a website generator to handle that better for you.)

When the game was freshly released, I had a similar project where I collected screenshots and wrote their story of exploration - but I did not intend to publish it. And in the first release, there was less to discover, so I did not continue, but it was fun while it lasted.

What do you mean by that? You write fiction because you enjoy writing fiction, that’s its worth. If it wasn’t worth it to you, you wouldn’t do it, right? You don’t need external people’s worth validation to enjoy writing speculative fiction.

I love it! That was so cool to see all the details. And the field journal excerpts are great!

And if you mean you hope it was worth it that we spent time helping, of course! I love spending time in NMS with my own little invented missions/goals, so it was fun to help out on your mission. Seeing the results all put together is icing on the cake. Be sure to let us know any other requests for help!

When i read in the 2 first minutes "-The mouth cavity is keratinized to minimize moisture loss " I knew it’ll be something more than just a “RP thing” for the only fun. Thinking about such detail is really nice and after reading it I’m doubly happy to have spent some time to help you  . Your imagination, your, probably, knowledge in biology, the idea to use a fictional etymolgy for your survey (did you feel like a Tolkien with elfic ? ) all that for something very pleasant to read, bravo.

If the commity have another mission I sign in

Thank you guys, you have no idea how much this means to me (although you would not be able to tell that from my face)

Not really sure what you mean here AdaRynin, but I’m assuming that you are talking about how the entire page had been formatted. If yes, then yes, it was actually intended to look like that. Or if you talk about, for instance, this part:

And yeah, I know that these don’t look great on mobile… I really should try to fix that.

What I really meant was that I hope that reading my project was worth it for you, that you enjoyed it and it wasn’t a waste of time, because wasting anyone’s time is the last thing I want

(did you feel like a Tolkien with elfic ? )

Not really sure what to make of this, I feel like there is a joke in here somewhere that I just don’t get because I’m not familiar with Tolkien’s work? (I hope this isn’t coming off badly)

Okay, I think I fixed it(?)

Is it any better now?

Tolkien not only wrote books but a whole universe, it’s genesis, gods and as he was old english teacher (philologist) he also created langages as elfic, dwarves and also orkish. For your survey I don’t know if you used only “game language” for the 3 races or if you let your imagination running for words you need.

I used the in-universe Korvax language.

This, combined with the usage of a mix of vocalization-description words and Scanner name words(if this makes sense?) is what my method is for the common names.

For the scientific names, I use Latin, Greek, in-universe words, scanner names and/or the common name itself.

(I hope all of these makes sense)

Nice, a mix with greco-latin + NMS, what a real etymological work. So you can definitely feel like a Tolkien playing with old norse, gaelic and so to create his world. :+1:

Thanks for improving it! These lists (lines that start with a hyphen) could use a list style, do you know what I mean? Then they would indent better.

Instead of

This and that
     - something
            - something more

a list style would look like:
This and that

  • something
    • something more

should be good now I belive

Suggestion: indenting only 1/2 inch (or a bit less) for list levels makes multi-line list items easier to read. That should allow the right-most list items to use wider text areas.

Hi everyone! I hope you guys and gals have a good/night!

I try to keep this short. I’m currently taking an indefinite break on this project because 1: I just don’t really feel that enthusiasm or inspiration to start the next fanua’s species profile and other stuff is on my radar for now (I have a mild case of ADHD, which causes me to jump from one interest to another), and 2: With me now back in school and home life getting a bit… shall I say messy, I don’t think I can really focus on it or what it would require from me to keep up the quality that I had established for it.

I hope you all understand. I will make an update ASAP when I start to really/seriously start work on this project again.

For now, stay safe and be curious!

Do what you have to do, and if need, you know where we are  (as far as your next project is not about animals living under 1000u deep in ocean eating only pop corn of course  )
